Mini Plane – Sampling Knife
The Mini Plane is designed to section hard & soft, non embedded biological & industrial materials into thin samples for micro analysis. Proper sample preparation tools are a requirement for any microscopy lab. This is especially true for those performing FT-IR analysis where the sample must be between 5 and 20 microns in order to provide the desired transmission. With the MiniPlane you easily can cut thin layers off the surface of industrial and biological materials. The cut layer will always have a consistent and uniform thickness optimized for measurement. You can adjust the blade depth, so that you can perfectly control and reproduce the thickness of the peel.
Depending on the hardness of your sample we provide two versions of the MiniPlane:
– The MiniPlane with the Carbide Steel Blade is best for peeling off thin sections from most polymers, tissue samples and coated materials.
– The Single-Crystal Diamond Blade version is ideal for cutting hard polymers, inorganic materials and coatings from metallic surfaces.
